2015 CAMDEN SHOWGIRL

You don’t get much more local than this year’s Camden Showgirl winner - Kate Boardman! Following in her big sister, Fiona’s (Camden’s 2009 Showgirl) footsteps, 23yr old Kate is heavily involved in breeding & showing Angus cattle & breeding, training & showing Australian Stock Horses, whilst working full time as an Animal Genetics Officer at Rivalea Australia. She grew up in Camden & completed her HSC at Elderslie High School & a VET Certificate II in Agriculture at Tocal were she was also awarded the VET Student of the Year.

Kate is enthusiastic about promoting the local agricultural show movement & the importance of women & youth in agriculture. She believes Camden has an exciting opportunity to bridge the gap between city and country and educate city neighbours about agriculture and where our food comes from.

2015 CARMEL FOTI ENCOURAGEMENT AWARD

Congratulations also to Tegan Hudson on being awarded the 2015 Carmel Foti Encouragement Award winner.

Tegan & her family have travelled throughout much of Australia & rural NSW but has always called Camden home. She loves the simplistic, beautiful, outdoor lifestyle Camden has to offer, so country, yet so close to the city. She strives to be an example & is passionate about helping to  inspire young women across the country & the globe to realise their true beauty & worth & achieve their full potential. Tegan is currently completing a Bachelor of Diagnostic Radiography at the University of Sydney & hopes to find a job as a Radiographer or Sonographer in rural NSW. She is also a partime Teacher’s aide & tutor at William Carey Christian School & is waitressing at Antico’s Woodfired Pizza Restaurant in Narellan. Tegan believes education is key to raising awareness of the importance rural areas play within Australia & says she is ‘thrilled that the Camden Show has remained true to its country roots’.

2014 CAMDEN SHOW BALL

Camden Show Society hosted its 53rd (annual) Camden Showgirl & Rural Achiever Ball on Saturday 25th October & more than 300 people attended the colourful, Carnivale themed Ball & danced the night away once more to ‘The John Fields Band’.  Although there was no Rural Achiever entrant this year, the judges had their work cut out for them with the 6 beautiful, young, confident Showgirl entrants vying for the chance to become the next Rural Ambassador for Camden.  Congratulations to our entrants this year - Moira O’Shea, Tegan Hudson, Kate Boardman, Ashleigh Smith, Emily Jansen & Madeleine Green.

Once again PB Catering out did themselves & there was not much left of the Lolly & Dessert Bar, generously donated by Sarita’s a Collective Emporium, Callebaut Chocolates (including 2 Chocolate Fountains), McDonalds Macaroons, Lolly’s from Lolliland & a smorgasboard of delectable treats from our new Treasurer, Katie Palmer.  Butterflies of Camden put together the amazing bouquets for the Showgirls, Judges & our wonderful MC, Lyndsey Douglas & adorned the beautiful center pieces on the tables with ‘rainbow roses’. The 2015 Camden Showgirl Ball is being held on Saturday 24th October, don’t miss out on one of Camden’s Social highlights of the year!
